Abstract

Research about the reason and attitude of educate on choosing their own career was a matter of world concern. In that point, the objective of present study was investigating of some dental school students about actual conditions of motive in collage selection and job choice. Present study is cross-section research that randomly selection of dental school on Jeollabuk-do, Korea. We carried out self recording type questionnaire for students who were expected to graduate on February, 2012. Total Participants who fill out all questions among total 100 graduating student, are 46 males, 23 females. The result on the analysis about the motive selecting dental school for his/her own career has shown significant difference of Subject characteristic depend on ‘High income’ and ‘marital condition’ (p?0.05), ‘stability of job’ and ‘subject’s native place’ (p?0.05), ‘Good social position’ and ‘financial independence’ (p?0.05), ‘recommendation by their own family’ and ‘career before dental collage admission’ and ‘financial independence’ (p?0.05), ‘independence about work’ and ‘career before dental collage admission’ (p?0.05). The results show that the possibility about career selection has significant differences according to ‘dental specialist course’ and ‘gender’ (p?0.1), ‘career before dental collage admission’, ‘financial independence’ (p?0.1), ‘belonging to suburban local dental office’ and ‘gender’ (p?0.1), ‘mother’s level of education’, ‘financial independence’, ‘belonging to downtown local dental office’ and ‘number of brothers and sisters’ (p?0.1), ‘full-time job’ and ‘career before dental collage admission’ (p?0.1), ‘part-time job’ and ‘financial independence’ (p?0.1). Base upon this result, ‘motive of dental school entrance’ and ‘characteristics of career selection’ are must be identified. And the olicies and institutional changes that will satisfy their (student’s) need should be prepared.
